Who am I?
I am an associate professor at the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Lake Forest College. I teach various entry-level and advanced-level Computer Science courses. I also do research in the field of Computer Vision. Before coming here, I was a post-doctoral research fellow working with Dr. Jana Kosecka at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia. Previously, I completed my Ph.D in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology in May 2013 under Dr. Chengjun Liu. My dissertation is on Novel Color and Local Image Descriptors for Content-Based Image Search. Before my PhD, I worked as a software engineer at a reputed software company in India for three years. I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology from the West Bengal University of Technology, India in 2005.
What are my research interests?
My research interest lies in the fields of Image Processing, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning. I am also interested in the emerging field of Data Science. A list of my publications can be found here.
What other skills do I have?
I have extensive programming experience in MATLAB and five years of teaching experience in C++, Java, SQL and Python. Besides my research, I have worked with Oracle, MS SQL Server and MySQL databases. I have excellent communication skills, and a love for writing and photography. My detailed résumé can be found here.
